HARMONIZATION OF TRANSPORT SYSTEMS IN THE EUROPEAN UNION
First notification and invitation to participate
7 and 8 October 2004, Ljubljana Ljubljana Fair, Gospodarsko razstavišče
Symposium Outline
The guarantee of smooth and efficient transportation of people and goods is an essential requirement in today's economy. Different system solutions, however, lead to a poor use of the transport infrastructure and inadequate quality and safety of services and represent a threat to economic efficiency and competitiveness. This is true not only of the global framework but also of the common European market.
The common transport policy, aimed at the improvement of traffic flows, creation of healthy competition, increase of trading in the transport sector, environmental protection, assurance of transport safety, mobility of people with special needs and adequate social role in public transport, requires harmonization.
The idea behind it is harmonization of legislation, economic, technical and social regulations and standards, technical and economic solutions, research projects and common practice in general.
The initiative of the European Union, "eEurope - information society for everybody", is a key element of modernizing the European economy. The basis for the realisation of the set goals, however, is harmonization. This is the topic of ISEP 2004. All modes of transport, including road, rail, air and maritime transport are covered.
Come and join us at this interesting event in Ljubljana.
