SYMPOSIUM OUTLINE
In today's economy it is a prerequisite to ensure smooth and efficient transport of people and goods. High requirements for transport systems and for the means of transport stimulate technical and technological development, especially on the field of electronic devices, telematics and support systems. Innovative applications, services, technical solutions and functions in road, railway, air and sea transportation include the transport of people as well as goods. Intelligent Transport Systems – ITS have a special role here, and thus they offer an excellent support at planning, managing and ensuring transport services.
In global economy, when the demands to lower the costs of infrastructure development have hardened, intelligent transport systems could enable the best use of existent capacities, combining the modes of transport, and to put the means of transportation to the most profitable use. These are the factors which will in a great extent influence the changes of transport systems, and the performance of transport organizations in the following decades.
At the symposium we wish to emphasize the discussion of the following topics:
positioning and navigation systems, traffic management and control, rationalizing urban transport, traffic safety, interoperability of transport systems, multimodality, influence of technological development on the transport infrastructure, transport and education, sustainable maintenance, electronic fee collection.
